What is a whole number?
a positive number or 0 with no fractional parts(no decimals)
to go up, get larger, or increase
What is an Expression?
a math sentence with a minimum of two numbers or variables and at least one math operation(+,-,x,/), but no equal sign
What is Slope?
a quantity that describes the rate of change and how steep a line is(rise over run, the number in front of x in an equation)
What is a Variable?
a quantity that can change(letters are used to represent these changing, unknown quantities)
What is a negative number?
a number less than 0(a number to the left of 0 on the number line)
What does Descend mean?
to go down, get smaller, or decrease
What is a Ratio?
a relationship/comparison between two numbers(a:b or a/b)
What is Y-Intercept?
The y-value in a linear relationship when x=0, which is the point where the graph touches the y-axis.
What is a Constant?
a value that does NOT change, a fixed value(number that is added(+) to or subtracted(-) from a variable)
What is a Positive Number?
a number greater than 0(a number to the right of 0 on the number line)
What is a Mixed Number?
a whole number with a proper fraction (numerator, the part, on top, and denominator, the total, on bottom)
What is a Percent?
a ratio that compares a number to 100("out of 100")
What is an Independent Vairable?
What is a Coefficient?
the number in front of the variable, which is multiplied or divided by the variable
What is an Integer?
a number with no fractional parts(no decimals); includes positive numbers, negatives numbers, and 0
What is an Improper Fraction?
a fraction where the numerator is greater than the denominator.
a set of equivalent ratios(or fractions)
the y-values(the dependent variable depends on the independent variable, x)
What is a Reciprocal(aka Multiplicative Inverse)?
the reciprocal of any number is 1 divided by the number, or in a fraction the reciprocal means flipping the numerator and denominator
Any number written as a form of a fraction or ratio. (can be a decimal that ends or repeats)
What is Order of Operations?
a collection of rules that reflect which operations to perform first given an expression (PEMDAS)
What is an Equation?
a mathematical statement in which two expressions are equal, with an expression on each side of '='.

a statement that compares two values(uses <, >, <=, >= )
