Define Proportional Relationship
A relationship where two quantities increase or decrease at the same rate.
Define Variable
A letter that represents an unknown number.

A mathematical statement that compares two expressions using symbols like <, >, ≤, or ≥.

The distance a number is from zero on the number line (always positive).

The average of a set of numbers.

The amount of space inside a three-dimensional object.
Define Unit Rate
A rate that compares a quantity to one unit of another quantity.
Define Coefficient
The number multiplied by a variable in an algebraic expression.
Define Rational Number
A number that can be written as a fraction of two integers.
Define Median
The middle number in an ordered list of data.
Define Radius and Diameter
Radius
The distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circle.
Diameter
A line that goes through the center of a circle and connects two points on the circle; it is twice the radius.
Define Constant of Proportionality
The number you multiply one quantity by to get the other in a proportional relationship.
Define Solution
A value that makes an equation or inequality true.
Define Opposite
Two numbers that are the same distance from zero on the number line but in different directions.
Define Mode and Range
Mode: The number that appears the most in a set of data.
Range: The difference between the greatest value and the least value in a data set.
Define Circumference and Pi
Circumference
The distance around a circle.
Pi (π)
A constant (about 3.14) used to calculate the circumference and area of circles.
