What are some eligible checks customer can deposit via the mobile app? 

To be eligible for Mobile Check Deposit, the check must be:

  • A Business or Personal check
  • A Government/Treasury check
  • A Cashier’s check
  • Payable to a signer on the account of deposit
  • Payable in US dollars
  • Within the acceptable size dimensions:
    • Between 6 and 8.75 inches wide
    • Between 2.75 and 3.66 inches high

Note: Checks must have account numbers with 19 or less digits.

What is Bank by Mail? 

Provides an option to deposit checks for Consumer or Small Business clients who are:

  • Located in a non-Bank of America state
  • Not near a Bank of America financial center or Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
  • Travelling internationally

  • If this does not resolve the issue, tell the client to try again later when there is a full Wi-Fi connection.

Transfer the funds to the desired account using Synergy Web. Refer to the Synergy Web User Guide.

What are some examples of ineligible checks? 

Third-party checks (TPCN) and joint-party checks (JPCN) (items not 100% payable to a signer on the account), unless the account is notated as approved for deposit of such checks. // 

  • Checks payable by a foreign bank (including Canada)

  • Travelers Cheques/Traveler's Checks
  • COMCHECK® travel drafts
  • Image Replacement Documents (IRDs)

How long does it take to deposit check that was mailed? 

  • Deposits are processed the same business day if the deposit is received before cut-off time.
  • Bank by Mail follows the same cutoff times as the financial centers domiciled in the same state.
  • Remind clients to allow for mail time when sending a Bank by Mail deposit.

Bank by Mail does not automatically mail back a receipt. The client must include a self-addressed stamped envelope and request for receipt.

Mobile Check Deposit limits are:

  • Per calendar month, not a rolling 30-calendar day period
  • Per account (a client with multiple accounts can deposit up to the limit for each account)

Retail and Preferred: 

Accounts 0-91 Calendar Days = $2,500 monthly

Accounts Greater than 91 Calendar Days = $15,000 monthly
