People
They are successors of the Apostles who have received the fullness of the priesthood.
They are spiritual leaders of Christians in their dioceses. They alone can ordain men to the priesthood and to the office of bishop.
Bishops
This term comes from the Hebrew word for "Passover," a feast Jews celebrated in remembrance of their liberation from Egypt. Jesus celebrated this at the Last Supper.
It refers to the suffering, death, and Resurrection of Jesus by which we are saved from our sins.
Paschal Mystery
These are 7 supernatural powers we receive at Baptism and which are strengthened at Confirmation. They are: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord.
Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit
An offense against the holy law of God in a small matter. They weaken our relationship with God and are dangerous to our spiritual well-being.
Venial Sin
This comes from the Latin word "credo", which means "I believe." It is a statement of our beliefs as Christians.
Creed
This is a witness to the truth of the Faith, in which the person endures even DEATH to be faithful to Christ.
Martyr
A visible sign given to us by Jesus in order to give us Sanctifying grace. There are 7 of them in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, holy Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.
Sacrament
The word we use to describe the change of bread and wine into the very Body and Blood of Christ.
Transubstantiation

Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit
A special oil blessed by the bishop and used in the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders.
It has a very beautiful scent which symbolizes the attraction of goodness and holiness. It shows we have been called by God to serve Him as prophets, priests, and kings in Christ.
Chrism
These are saints after which we are named at Baptism and Confirmation. They pray for us in a special way and help us reach heaven.
We should learn about them and try to love God as they did.
Patron Saint
The word we use to describe the change of bread and wine into the very Body and Blood of Christ.
Transubstantiation
The truth that God became man. It refers to the conception and birth of Jesus the Son of God who became man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Incarnation
A serious offense against the law of God, which destroys the sanctifying grace in our souls.
Mortal Sin
Three conditions must be present:
1. the action must be seriously wrong
2. we must know that is is seriously wrong
3. we must do it free, without anyone or anything forcing us to do it
It is important to confess ASAP.
There are four special signs that point out the true Church of Jesus Christ. They are found in the Nicene Creed as: one, holy, catholic, and apostolic.
Only in the Catholic Church can these all be found.
Marks of the Church
The term that reminds us of Jesus' mission as PRIEST, PROPHET, and KING. Through Baptism and Confirmation, we all share in this.
Triple Office
This is the mystery that in Christ the divine and human nature are united in the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. Jesus is fully God and fully man.
Hypostatic Union
The special feast of the Holy Spirit. It recalls the coming of the Spirit upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostles. We celebrate this 50 days after Easter.
Pentecost
The term that pertains to Prudence, Justice, Temperance, and Fortitude. They are the four main virtues or habits of good actions.
Cardinal Virtues
The bishop imposes his hand on the head of the person and anoints him with Chrism while saying, "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Sign of Confirmation
These TWO people became the "New Adam" and the "New Eve"-- being conceived without sin and being full of grace like our first parents, and accomplishing what Adam and Eve did not in their covenant with God.
