1. Quickly read over the multiple choice questions before you begin reading to have a better understanding of what to read for.

2. For certain questions, you can cover the answers and answer the question in your head first and then find the answer that best matches your question.

3.  Process of elimination.

True or False: Your short response can get more points if it is longer.

False. Responses should typically require no more than approximately two or three complete sentences.  It is important to note that students who answer the question only using details from the text will NOT receive full credit. The rubrics do not prioritize the length of the response or reward the accumulation of evidence beyond what is asked for by the question. Educators preparing students for this exam are encouraged to emphasize the quality of the constructed responses consistent with the rubric criteria and remind students that the length of their response does not necessarily improve the quality of their response.

What are the 2 different ways you can structure the body paragraphs?

By Text:

Body paragraph 1 answers the questions about Text A, then includes evidence and analysis from Text A. Body Paragraph 2 answers the questions about Text B, and then includes evidence and analysis from Text B.

By Text:

Body paragraph 1 answers question 1 about Text A and B, then includes evidence and analysis for both texts. Body paragraph 2 answers question 2 about Text A and B, then includes evidence and analysis for both texts.
