How does the setting affect the events of the story and the plot? You may give an example to help answer the question.

Answers may vary. Setting determines what is happening where and when. For example, in "Visiting the Zoo" is was bring your child to work day. This gave Brooke the opportunity to work with the different animals behind the scenes. Her conflict was that she wanted to work with the African animals but was assigned to work with the Arctic animals instead. If it wouldn't have been bring your child to work day, Brooke would've never had the conflict in the first place. Setting can drive different events in the story. In the Titanic story we read, the setting drove the events by the kids sneaking into a first-class area that they were not permitted to be in. The ship also struck an iceberg. This would not have happened if they were somewhere else or in a ship in different waters.
