To open a balance:

  1. Go to Home on the website or app.

  2. Select the + icon. You might have to scroll to the far right.

  3. Choose either balance or Jar.

  4. Choose which currency you'd like to hold money in.

  5. You’ll need to add some money and verify your identity first to keep your account safe.

Can you tell me where to find it?

On both web and app, you can go to the Payments tab and find it under Payment Tools.

You’ll also find it under your profile picture or initials at the top of the screen. Make sure it’s toggled on, so that others can find you.

I need to change my phone number on my Wise account but the link you sent is not working can you tell me what else I can do?

If that still doesn’t work, email us with an attachment of your selfie with ID, and your new phone number including the country code.

It can take up to 2 working days to review — we’ll let you know once it’s done or if we need any more information.

Make sure to cancel at least 1 working day before your payment is due, otherwise the Direct Debit might still go through.

Cancelling a Direct Debit won’t cancel the contract or subscription you have with the company you were paying. So don’t forget to cancel with them

Do you guys have a feature like that?

You can create a payment request from a few different places in your Wise account — from your currency balance, from the Payments tab, or from your existing Wise contacts by going on the Recipients tab.

You can select Request from the home screen, or go to the currency balance and select Receive. If the person is a Wise user, select or enter them from the list. If they're not a Wise user, just select Anyone to create a payment link that you can share with your payer. It will include a QR code with your Wisetag.

You’ll get assigned a program according to your region. We can’t change invite programs on request.

If you’re not happy with our decision to close your account, you can appeal it. 

Once you make an appeal, we'll let you know if we can review your case and what other steps you can take. Making an appeal doesn't mean we'll automatically change our decision.

I'm trying to use the contactless feature on my US Card but is not letting me. (wise card was issue on October 2019)

If you have a card issued from the US before December 2019, your physical card doesn't support contactless. But you can add it to a mobile wallet, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, to pay with contactless.

A friend is trying to send me money but he says that when they put my details they don't see Wise as the recipient bank can you explain better.

When you want to receive money with your account details, you might need to provide the partner bank’s details to the person sending the money. Or your sender might see the partner bank’s name shown when they make the payment instead of Wise's name.

Don’t worry — as long as you use the account details shown in your Wise account, the money will arrive safely to your account.

As a regulated financial institution, we’ll only share your tax information with relevant government tax authorities if we need to. This is to comply with international tax standards like the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) or the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

To close your balances, you’ll need to remove each currency one by one. Before you can do that, you’ll need to make sure there’s no money in that balance.

I opened my Wise account with you in 2022 (address in Turkey) My idea of having this account is being able to send a receive US dollars but I don't see the option to receive that currency

You can't get USD account details if your address is in Turkey

We recommend you check and follow these steps before you permanently close your account, so that you have everything you need:

  1. Withdraw all money from your balances, including Jars, Stocks and Interest 

  2. Check your connected cards — make sure you change your card details on any websites as you won’t be able to use them

  3. Wait for any pending card payments to go through

  4. Complete or cancel all pending transactions

  5. Download any transfer receipts and balance statements you might need
