Because they just escaped from a restrictive monarchy where they had no voice.The Bill of Rights is like a promise to the american people that the government will protect their rights.
What is the separation of powers?
1.It is how each branch is separate from the other because each has unique powers/jobs
2.The framers chose three so no one person/group would have all of the power.

It is how each branch has certain powers that let them check on each other to keep a balance of power among all three.

It is an idea that means that power comes from the people.Not much can happen in the government without the permission of the citizens.The people elect who make the decisions.If the citizens don't like a decision made by the government,they can vote the person out of the office.
