Start sending messages/calls to co-workers to ask for help, and call the shift lead at the building to report that you are ill and trying to find a replacement.

You must provide 2 hours notice, attempt to find your own coverage, and then notify the RWD who will be working your shift.

Ask on the walkie if someone else is already headed that way, if not, go help... EVERYONE should be helping eachother, regardless of your "assignment"
You walk into a residents bathroom to provide care, the residents asks you to help them apply their medicated hemorrhoid cream which they have in the bathroom cabinet, what should you do?
Ask the med tech to check the residents orders, and ask the med tech to assist them. If you are not med tech certified, you cannot administer medications for any reason.
What type of shoes should be work at ALL times during your shift?
Closed toe anti-slip sneakers/shoes. No sandals/slippers/etc

Ask the CMT if there are any orders for pain medicine, and ask for help with residents transfers if she is in pain.
A resident asks why it is taking so long for someone to come help her, the aide responds "we are short staffed"... why is this a problem?
Residents should never be told we are short staffed, it is our job to make them feel safe and well cared for. The proper response is "sorry we are running a bit behind today, I am here to help now"
The CMT is administering medications as ordered but is running a little behind, she hands you a cup of pills for room 102 and asks you to give them to her when you go in to do AM care, what should you do?
Politely tell the CMT that you are not certified to administer medications and refuse the task, reporting to RWD.

Identify if the resident has a as needed order for barrier cream, and report redness to CMT/RWD for follow up
Tom and Jerry (LS residents) are arguing in the dining room, Tom smacks Jerry in the face, what is the first step you should take?
Separate the residents and ensure the safety of residents and staff in the direct area. Then notify RWD
Madeline is working 3-11 shift when she gets a phone call for a family emergency: What is the first step the staff in the building should take?
Immediately call all staff to wellness to discuss how resident care will be provided in Madeline's absence. Attempt to call employees from 11-7 shift to see if they can come in a little early to help
You enter a residents room and find her sitting on her chair watching tv using a heating pad on her lower back, what should you do?
Remind resident that heating pads are not permitted in the building with the exception of Therapy usage, remove the heating pad, and report to RWD.

Call for the shift lead to assess for injury/need for ED evaluation. Do not move the resident
You have arrived for your shift at 7am, but you are being asked to work on a floor you are not used to or have not been trained on, what should you do?
Work the floor you are assigned, after having a discussion with the shift lead/ other RCA's that answers any questions you may have. NOONE in this building is resigned to work only one assignment!!!
What step should be taken with all liquid bottles in the med cart
Kept in a seperate area of the cart and ensure bottles are clean and free of sticky residue/spills.
Employees are allowed to wear what on their heads while on duty?
Scarves or religious head covers - NO SHOWER CAPS OR SLEEPING BONNETS!!!
