How do you ensure patient privacy and confidentiality?

Patient information—whether on paper or in the computer—is strictly confidential. Access only what’s needed for your job. Never discuss patient details in public areas or online. Share information only with authorized personnel involved in care. Breaches may lead to disciplinary action, including termination. All employees sign a confidentiality agreement during orientation. What is a Medical Alert Rapid Response?

  • Activated when a patient shows early signs of deterioration (e.g., abnormal vitals, confusion). Goal: prevent cardiac/respiratory arrest.

  • Code Blue: Activated when a patient is unresponsive, not breathing, or has no pulse. Goal: resuscitate.
