Mirzo Ulugbek (1394-1449) is a great scientist, astronomer and ruler of the XV century, grandson of the famous conqueror. He ruled in Samarkand and became famous not for his military exploits, but for his scientific activities. Under his leadership, the famous observatory was built, where he and scientists created a star catalogue that was ahead of its time.
