You are busy and realize that a paper you submitted last semester covers the same topic as an assignment due this semester. Can you resubmit the same paper?

Generally, NO. If you must complete a research project to earn a grade in a course, handing in a project you already earned credit for in another course is deceitful and could be considered self-plagiarism. Some instructors may allow you to re-work the project, but never do this without first consulting your professor.
