If a patient is a burn victim, why is it important that you do not take blood from the infected areas? Where would you take their blood then?
-It is extremely painful for the patient to have their blood taken from burned skin, resulting with the patient moving while needle is injected causing further damage.
- In order to collect the specimen, the phlebotomist must take from arm that is not affected. If both arms are affected, collect from their hand.
