What people may I need to actively listen to?

Your friend is giving you instructions on a computer game but they are moving around a lot and making lots of noise whilst speaking to you.

The teaching assistant is giving you a reminder about what you need to bring to your next lesson. You stop what you are doing, look at the teaching assistant and stay quiet whilst they talk. You didn't hear one of the instructions so you ask them to repeat it again, slowly.
