The person is using the substance on a recurring, improper basis in a way that is harmful. Risk factors are characteristics or conditions that increase the likelihood of developing a disease or other adverse health outcome.


Examples: taking higher doses, engagng in regular binge drinking, occasionally uses cocaine.
