Describe the difference between a credit card and a debit card.

A credit card:

You have an allowance of a certain amount of money to spend on that card.  You then are indebted to the card company, and you need to pay it back in full every month.  This option can affect or build credit. This option is safer in the case your card gets stolen.  The charge will not immediately take your money due to waiting on a payment, so it is easier to dispute fraud charges.

A debit card:

Directly spends the money you have in your account without the need for payments.  This option does not affect or build your credit.  This option is less safe in the scenario that someone steals your card.  Your money will be immediately spent and you may have difficulty disputing the charge.
