These are the 5 types of cell contacts, which include cell to cell and cell to ECM
Tight junctions, gap junctions, Desmosomes
Hemidesmosomes, focal adhesions
Some components in ecm
Collagen, elastin, proteoglycans,
Fibronectin, amino
The central dogma
DNA -> RNA-> protein
What is the structure of a nucleus like?
Double membrane with pores.
What is the role of a vacuole
Storage site
The components in a subunit of DNA/RNA
Phosphate group, nitrogenous base, ribose or deoxygenated ribose
phospholipids
Phases in the cell cycle
prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase
In the lab, when I want to put in a green fluorescent Scamp1 or other protein of interest, I use a plasmid that has the DNA for the protein of interest in it. Why do I not just inject the protein of interest?
DNA is more stable
Protein expression will end, but with plasmid DNA it will last longer.
What organelle contains digestive enzymes?
lysosome
3 general types of cytoskeletal elements
Microfibrils, intermediate filaments, microtubules
Progenitor cell that can produce several cell types
Pluripotent cells
