What are the Incentive Spirometry Procedures? Hint there's 8 steps. 

1.Place the patient in a semi-fowlers or high fowlers position

2.Instruct the patient to exhale fully. 

3. Have the patient place his/her lips around the mouthpiece 

4.Instruct the patient to take a slow deep breath, hold breath for at least three seconds, and then slowly exhale.

5. Patient should repeat the pattern of 10 breaths every 1 to 2 hours while awake 

6. Try to increase the inspired volume by at least 100 ml with each breath on the spirometer, 

7.Have the patient remove the device from the mouth and take a slow deep breath 

8. Once the patient is finished, clean the mouthpiece of the spirometer
