At the time the ball is made ready for play backs A22 and A33 are moving. A22 then comes to a stop and A33 continues in motion as the ball is snapped.
Specify the correct foul.RULING: False start. Team A players were not all stopped for a full second before the snap at any time after the ball was made ready for play. Officials should stop the action, and Team A is penalized five yards for a dead-ball foul.
On a fake field goal attempt from the B-9 holder A22 has to lift his right knee off the ground to field the snap. From this upright position he goes back to the ground with his right knee and starts to place the ball for a kick. As the kicker swings his foot to kick the ball, A22 lifts his right knee off the ground and throws a quick pass to A88.
RULING: Legal.
Watch the action by Liberty player #96. Does this raise to the level of DH?
This is a clear DH-GR preventing the guard from getting to the 2nd level and we need to see and make this call. This is coached. NC 4
Watch the action by MTSU #72. Yes or No. This is correctly called for OH.
Agree that this is close but this is not quite enough for a quality foul. MC5
Third and two at the A-30 in the first quarter. At the A-28, A12 throws the ball backward to a teammate who muffs it. There is a mad scramble to get the ball, which eventually goes out of bounds at the A-33.
RULING: The ball belongs to Team A where it went out, at the A-33, which is beyond the line-to-gain. Had the receiver caught the backward pass and then fumbled the ball with the same result, the ball would have belonged to Team A for fourth down back at the spot of the forward fumble. In either case the clock would start on the ready.
Team A commits illegal touching at the B-28 during a punt that crosses the neutral zone. B35 recovers the kick and, during the return, B75 clips at the B-36. At the 50-yard line, B35 fumbles the ball which A45 recovers and downs at the B-41. List all enforcement options.
If Team A declines the penalty for B75's clipping foul, Team B will get the ball at the B-28 on the illegal touching violation. If Team A accepts the penalty, Team B will retain possession, first down and 10 at the B-21 following enforcement of the penalty from the B-36. The clock starts on the snap.
This is a 2 part question.
1. The H calls IDP on#77. Is he far enough downfield to call this foul?
2. Which official other than the H can help with this call?
Agree that this is close but this is not quite enough for a quality foul. MC5
Watch NMST #81. Does the restriction raise to the level of a foul for OH?
This is a play that looks ugly but this is not quite enough for a foul. MC5
With 10 seconds remaining in the first half, A13’s kickoff is intentionally driven low down the middle of the field to prevent a long runback. While the ball is rolling, B27 holds at the B-35.
The foul occurred during the kick, and if the penalty is accepted, it is enforced from the previous spot. Team A will kick off again from the A-45.
Second and 10 from the A-2. A8 takes the snap and hands off to A22 who runs for a small gain. A66 is called for holding one yard into the end zone.
Although holding by the offense would normally be enforced half-the-distance from the previous spot (10-2-2b), because the foul took place in the end zone, a safety results (10-2-2b Exc).
What common mistake does the SJ make on this play?
IM SJ - you have to use the two step process and you obviously skipped this one. When we put a flag down like this and have to announce there is no foul on the play for a block in the back, (TV and fans will get dialed into this action and they don't understand the two step process or no advantage gained so this puts us automatically in a bad light. Stick to the processes!
What mistake does the LJ make on this play?
Time is crucial here. We MUST cut the clock as soon as we know he is beyond the LTG and not wait until we get there to cut it! We are darn close to OPI with this receiver at the top blocking before the ball is caught! IM3
On Team A's punt that crosses the neutral zone, B33 and B45 both signal for a fair catch. B33 muffs the ball and B45 is about to catch it when he is tackled by A15.
Is there a foul or fouls on this play. Identify all that apply.
RULING: This is not kick catching interference as long as B33’s opportunity to catch the ball had ended. A15 is guilty of holding B45 (AR 6-5-5 I).
Second and 10 on B-37. Team A has one time-out left and is trailing by 3 points with 8 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. QBA1 completes
a pass to eligible receiver A81 at the B-28 who is tackled and immediately signals for a time-out but time expires on the play. Replays show that the
line judge had signaled for the clock to stop with one second remaining.
Reviewable play, regarding whether the pass was complete and whether there should be time remaining on the game clock at the end of the play. A 3-1 on B-28, reset game clock to 0:01 and start on the snap. There must be video evidence of the official’s signal in order to put time back on the clock in this situation (Rule 12-3-6-c).
B this should open up to you and is more of a foul than play #6. See PGM replay and CAM11 views. This is a very clear and obvious foul for DPI as this defender has a more than significant grab of the back arm. We have to make this call! NC 4
This is a two part question you must get both correct.
Watch offensive player #53 if any what foul does he commit?
Which other official can help with a ruling on this play?
IC 3 for calling IDP instead of OPI.
H we could really use your help in the belt with this and have the U pick this up. If you had called OPI that would definitely be supported. See PGM view. This is a poster child for OPI by an offensive lineman. He leaves the LOS to engage at the 2nd level. Rule is clear, he can engage up to one yard and can drive no more than 3 yards but he cannot leave and got to the 2nd level on a pass like this.
A2’s kickoff is very high. B11 signals for a fair catch at the B-23. As B11 is in the process of completing the catch at the B-23, and before the ball touches the ground, A35 tackles B11 at the B-23 causing the ball to hit the ground, where it is recovered by B44 at the B-27.
Is there a foul on this play? If so, where is it enforced?
RULING: Because the foul for kick-catching interference occurs against a player signaling for a fair catch behind the B-25 and it is during a free kick, the basic spot for enforcement is the B-25. It will be Team B’s ball at the B-40.
During the first series in an extra period, a field goal attempt by A4 from the B-20 is partially blocked. While the ball is rolling toward the end zone, B52 clips A28 at the B-1 in an effort to get the ball. Team B is in final possession.
RULING: Post-scrimmage kick enforcement does not apply in extra periods. The penalty is enforced from the previous spot, half-the-distance to the goal line, with an automatic first down for Team A.
Watch the block at the top of the screen by #18. True or False this is correctly called for IBB?
There is no way you stayed with this block the whole time or you would have known that he never loses contact and this is NOT a foul!
IC 3
Two part question. You must get both correct.
True or False this is correctly called for CHP?
Which other official can offer information to confirm or pickup this foul?
I saw this live and knew we were wrong. Can understand how the U thinks this is a CHB but he doesn't see how #74 got there. R - you should have been working a potential OH on SDSU #74 as he has his left hand inside the collar of OSU #25 (See PGM) and then goes to the ground and into the legs of the defender who is engaged high with the RG. You should have been able to help when the U reported a foul on your tackle.
Fourth and 10 on the A-5. B77 blocks the punt at the A-7. The ball is deflected to the A-9 and is muffed into the end zone. A21 bats the ball from the end zone into the field of play and it goes out of bounds at the A-6. List all possible enforcement options.
There are three options for Team B: (1) B, 1/G, A-6: Decline the penalty and accept the result of the play; (2) Safety: either by accepting the penalty with enforcement under the 3-and 1 principle from the spot of the foul or under 6-3-13 Exc which says it’s a safety because the foul is in Team A’s end zone; or (3) B, 1/G, A-3: Accept the penalty with enforcement from where the ball belongs to Team B.
