Look at origin response times for the images. Unless if an image with TCP_HIT takes a long time to load, in which case reproduce the error, and send the Akamai pragma responses to AkaTec.

High response times are observed by users ever since the home page moved to AWS. The home page is cached on Akamai.
Page load = base HTML + embedded assets + third party assets. Delay in rendering of any of these components will affect page load time, please look at breakdown of response times in Soasta/Firebug/Chrome Developer Tools
