What is ball and socket?
A joint movement that involves rotation a body part towards the middle of the body.
Internal Rotation.
Movement away from the midline.
What is abduction?
These are known as immovable or fixed joints. These joints are held together by tough connective tissue.
What is the fibrous joints?
This joint only rotates. It is at the top of the spinal column. It allows us to raise, lower and turn our heads. It is located at the neck.
What is the pivot joint?
Movement at the end of a limb in a circular motion.
What is circumduction?
Movement toward the midline of the body.
What is adduction?
This joint can move in all directions except full rotations. An example of this joint is the wrist.
What is the condyloid joint?
This joint allows you to bend and straighten your body. It is located at the elbow and knee, and only allows a little rotation.
What is the hinge joint?
When you shrug your shoulders in an upwards motion.
What is elevation?
Movement that decreases the angle between two body parts.
What is flexion?
These joints are slightly movable joints. These joints only move up to a certain point and are joined by cartilage.

Movement that increases the angle between two body parts.
What is extension?
These are freely movable joints. There are 6 types of these joints and they allow movement to take place.
What is synovial joints?
This joint helps move your body forward, backwards, and right and left. They occur where one bones sits on top of another bone. Thumbs have these joints.
What is the saddle joint?
Rotation of the hand or forearm so that it is facing upward.
What is supination?
The turning movement of a limb.
What is rotation?
A type of synovial joint that allows the greatest range of motion, found in the hip.
