Stages of Matter
I have a definite shape .
What is a solid.
Hot chocolate is poured into a mug, I touch the mug which is now very hot!
What is conduction.
I made some fresh pancake batter and then put a scoop of it onto a hot grill.

I got a nice caramilk chocolate bar from the store but accidentally left it in the car on a hot day.
What is melting.
I was playing with corn starch and water and noticed that when you touch it, it moves and feels like a liquid but also has hard stiff parts throughout it.
What is a colloide.
I can take on the shape of any container but do not have a definite shape.
What is a liquid.
The air in a hot air balloon starts out cool, and then is heated and that heat is pushed up inside the balloon causing the hot air to fill the balloon and make it float.
What is convection
I was blowing up a balloon, which reached a huge size but it accidentally slipped from my fingers and blew around the room.
What is contracted.
It rained last night. I went out to start my car in the morning and was shivering from the cold. My windshield was pure ice.
What is freezing.
When you drop an alka seltzer tablet into water, it gets really fizzy and dissolves.
What is the particles were contracted and then expanded in the tablet when mixed with the water.
I have no fixed shape or volume and often have lots of empty space.
What is a gas.
You tell your younger sibling to not sit so close to the computer screen when watching it.

I was watching the goo inside my lava lamp move around. The goo split into several small lava balls and and then all of the sudden turned into one huge tight lave ball.

I went for a long run and am now sweaty.

It was a stormy night and a huge bolt of lighting strikes the ground near me.

All around you, takes up space and has particles and atoms that make it up; all physical objects are included in this. Some with a definite shape others without.
What is matter.
You are camping and make a fire. You watch as the heat builds from a small fire to a larger fire that warms you up nicely. There is so much heat, I wonder how this heat is created.

I love playing on bouncy castles! I especially love watching them get blown up by air machines.

It is a really cold day outside and I enter my warm school. My glasses I am wearing fog up.

It is a cold morning and I am walking to school. I notice as I am walking that I can see my breath.
