This 1904 Kentucky law forced Berea College to segregate its students.

What is the Day Law?

Kentucky state law prohibited interracial education, forcing Berea to segregate its student body. In response, Berea established the Lincoln Institute in 1912 to provide education for Black students until reintegration was permitted in 1950.

The difference between the Watson Scholarship and the Taylor Fellowship scholarship 

They are both their own thing, the Taylor fellowship is just its own version of the Watson scholarship, but exclusively to Berean students.

Taylor Fellowship Scholarship: A senior is given $40,000 to fund a full year of exploration abroad into a topic of the graduate's choice.

Watson Scholarship: Grad­u­at­ing seniors are nom­i­nat­ed by one of 41 part­ner insti­tu­tions and is then given $40,000. In addition, the foundation provides health insurance, the equivalent of 12-months of payments on outstanding institutional and federally guaranteed
