Yes, because wealth was often distributed among the already wealthy and kept in the small circles of wealthy families. Title and family name meant everything then, as opposed to now where everyone has a shot at achieving wealth through hard work or the right amount of luck and circumstance.

It was achievable in the 1920s and is now, although it was more difficult previously because of the traditional family name-title and wealth. There was also a lot more resentment from those who came from old wealth as they looked down upon those with new money, or Hollywood’s wealthy.

No, the term made minorities more optimistic about the opportunities that would be available in America; they worked hard to get to their goals
