What is the Stamp Act?
This act passed a law that made colonists pay tax on anything printed on paper. The tax was put into place to have the colonists pay Britain back for their help during the French and Indian War.

This war occurred because the French and British wanted to control the Ohio River Valley.

What is the Boston Tea Party?
The colonists were so upset about the tax on tea that they several Sons of Liberty dressed up like Mohawk Native Americans and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.

This battle was the first battle of the American Revolutionary War. It is sometimes called "The shot heard 'round the world."
Who is Benjamin Franklin?
He helped to edit the Declaration of Independence. He also traveled to Great Britain to try and make peace. He also assisted the colonial army by getting supplies from France. He represented the colonists when signing the Treaty of Paris. He is famous for many inventions!

A complete change in the way a person lives or works.
Who is Paul Revere?
His was the one that warned that the Redcoats (British army) was coming during the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
What is the Declaration of independence?
This document was written to King George III stating that the colonies wanted their independence and that they should have rights.
Who is Patrick Henry?
He was the Patriot that made the angry speech against the Stamp Act. His famous quote is "Give me liberty, or give me death!"
Who is Thomas Jefferson?
He was the one that shared many of his ideas about the colonists' independence by writing the Declaration of Independence.
Who is Benedict Arnold?
He was first on the side of the colonists and then switched sides to support Britain. He is known for being a traitor.
What is the treaty of Paris?
This was name of the treaty signed at the end of the war.
What is compromise?
To come to an agreement with each side giving in a little.
What is the Battle of Saratoga?
During the battle, France ended up joining the colonists and helped to send supplies to colonial soldiers. Great Britain thought they could win by dividing the colonists along either side of the Hudson river.
What is Valley Forge?
This is where the colonial army spent a long, cold winter fighting off disease and hunger. Washington, however, helped the troops to keep going.
What is the Battle of Yorktown?
This was the last official battle of the American Revolution. This British surrendered and the colonists won the war for their independence.
Who was George Washington?
He was the leader of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. The colonies loved his leadership so much that they made him the first official President of the colonies.
What was the Boston Massacre?
This act started with a snowball and ended up with the British firing into a crowd. Ten people died.
