In the 1960s, the NBA briefly banned the dunk. Who is widely cited as the primary "reason" for this ban, and what specific physical advantage was the league concerned about regarding his dominance?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then known as Lew Alcindor).

The league was concerned about his overwhelming height and wingspan, which allowed him to score at will with the dunk. The ban was implemented in 1967 and lasted until 1976. Interestingly, while the move was commonly dubbed the "Lew Alcindor Rule," it was also a way for the league to try and neutralize the sheer physical dominance of big men who were making the game too one-sided near the rim.

Most NFL fans know that the league’s oldest team is the Chicago Bears (originally the Decatur Staleys). However, there is one franchise that is currently in the NFL today that, for a single season in 1947, was known as the "Miami Seahawks" before folding and eventually morphing into its current identity. Which franchise is it?

The Indianapolis Colts.

The path to becoming the Colts is convoluted: The original Miami Seahawks (an AAFC team) folded after the 1946 season. Their assets were purchased by a group that formed the original Baltimore Colts in 1947. That team later played in the NFL for one season (1950) before folding. The current Indianapolis Colts franchise was then founded in 1953 as a "new" Baltimore Colts team, using the name and history of the previous organization to maintain continuity. It is one of the most complex "family trees" in professional sports history.
