When should we pour serum into a nesting cup?
When
- the gel is slanted
-there is a low volume of sample
-when the sample is extremely hemolyzed/ lipemic
What should you do before running a sample on the Advia?
- Rock the sample for 10 minutes
- Check for clots
- Check Volume of sample
How often does QC need to be run?
every 8 hours
Do adjustors or controls need to be ran daily (when we receive a sample)?
Controls
How do you turn on the instrument?
Hold down the switch for 3 seconds.
What is so unique about the red rack?
It does not read barcodes, only runs what you manually select. These results do not cross over into the LIS.
There is a small clot found in the LTT, what should the next step be?
Remove the clot before running the sample and place in the LIS panel notes "Cntrl T".
Which two reagents require a stir bar?
CK Prest and Neoplastine
Can you run adjustors and controls on the same rack?
Yes, but make sure adjustors are placed in front of the controls.
How often should Calibration be performed?
Once a month
How often should ISE Reagent bottles (located under the Beckman) be replaced?
Every month
There is a 'Clot Error' on the Advia, what should the next step be?
Make sure Advia is preforming a rinse (will run automatically) and then remove the clot filter and clean out any clots seen before running any other samples. Also, check the tube to ensure there are no additional clots.
CK Prest is not passing. What should your next step be?
Mix well with a wooden stick before rerunning. Do not remove from the Stago.
What color bag are the reaction tubes in? Where can I find them?
Reaction tubes are found in the bright orange bag in the inventory room.
How will the BioNote tell us when it needs to be calibrated?
It will always have the next run date on the lower right hand side.
Oh no! There is a trend of high ALP while approving chems. What should the next step be?
- Check for any other trends
- Reject these results from the LIS
-Check reagent onboard stability
-Rerun QC for specific analyte
- Check Levey Jennings Chart
-If all appears well, rerun samples
QC is not passing after performing rinses/washes. What should you try next?
Backflushing of the lines.
What should you do if the BTT is not filled to the line?
Place in macro "Alt P" that states "Due to inadequate filling of the coagulation tube, results may be affected. Please interpret results with caution."
What should I do if there is a 'Rack Jam'?
Remove the rack and wait for the green light to come on and proceed rerunning the rack.
What is the read only selection on the BioNote?
This is used when the test was performed outside of the analyzer and the line needs to be read for interpretation.
Majority of QC is failing. What should the next step be?
- Check reagents
-Rerun QC with calibrating
-Use fresh QC material
-Confirm LOT numbers
-Check DI water Tank light
-Expiration Dates
-Review what maintenance was performed, perform any overdue maintenance
-Ensure there is no leaks
Advias are in 'Analyzer Not Ready' mode. What should you check for?
- Check Sheath rinse
-Check all reagent levels
-Check pressure gauges
-Check Waste Container
What should we do to the sample before running it on the Stago.
Spin down the sample for plasma, pipette the plasma and place it into a second tube. Respin the plasma again, and pipette the top layer into a third tube.
I loaded the wedges, beads, and made the adjustors. Can I throw away the box now?
Not yet, grab the lot paper, write today's date and save under the IMMULITE.
What tests are run on the Bio Note?
PLI, Pro BNP, Cardiac Troponin, C- Reactive Protein, SAA, Cortisol, Progesterone, TSH, and T4
