What is description?
A fact is a statement that can be verified. It can be proven to be true or false through objective evidence. An opinion is a statement that expresses a feeling, an attitude, a value judgment, or a belief. It is a statement that is neither true nor false. Or it may feel true for some, but false for others.
What is Compare & Contrast?
This text structure is made up of two words...Time & Order
What is Chronological?
First brown the hamburger, then boil your noodles. After your noodles are boiled, drain the noodles into the sink. Finally, put in your sauce and meat and stir until all mixed up.
What is Sequence?
DAILY DOUBLE: The Chimpanzees are being endangered by poachers. There are many laws preventing poaching to occur
What is Problem & Solution?
The central idea in a story or text; what a text is mostly about.
What is the Main Idea?
When the students did not study the material.
They performed poorly on the test.
What is cause & effect?
DAILY DOUBLE: Putting things in order
What is Sequence?
A type of nonfiction that teaches the reader about a topic related to the natural world or society.
What is informational text?
DAILY DOUBLE: This figure of speech features either like or as in making a comparison.
What is a Simile?
Writing that describes facts and real events; not fiction.
What is Non-fiction?
It is presented as a PROBLEM.

Organized by numbering or listing items
What is Enumeration and Listing?
