1) Transportation: It limited the transportation between city-states. It was difficult to get around by foot. 2) Government: Leader were not able to unite city-states under one ruler. Each city-state was too isolated from the other. 3) Agriculture: It was difficult to farm with such rocky and mountainous terrain...so the Greeks either traded for food, or grew plants like olives and grapes that could survived on such landscape.
