What is the difference between a Pleb and Pat.

Plebs made up 95% of the population and until the conflict of orders they had little say in their government. Pats on the other hand were usually wealthy members of government that had a lot of power, and came from a rich family.

Women were to run the household,take care of children and teach their daughters homemaking skills. They had no rights over their children, however they did have the right to inherit money from their father when he died.

What were the 3 branches of Roman society

1. Tribunes/ assemblies- Tribunes were representatives for Plebians- they had the power to veto any unfair laws and served for one year.They had the power to approve or reject laws,declare wars, and elect magistrates. Assemblies were made up of Plebeians and Patricians and were usually normal citizens

2. Senate- Council of wealthy and powerful Romans that were mostly Patricians. They served for life, advised consuls, and gained control of financial affairs.

3.Magistrates- These were elected officials, the two most powerful were called consuls. Consuls led the government and army, and judged court cases.They served for one year and had power over all citizens, including other officials.

Children were to play games. They were allowed to have pets such as birds and dogs.Girls were expected to be married by the age of 16. Lastly,only wealthy children could afford to go to school/ be tutored.

A direct government is when the people all vote on laws. A representative government is when people choose representatives to reflect their ideas for them.

Slaves had very little rights and were often treated cruelly, and whipped. Slaves worked in homes, mines, factories,farms etc.Over 30% of the population was enslaved, but slaves were still given no legal protection.

Foreigners had a few more right than laves, but still had no legal protection. Foreigners could become citizens if they adopted Roman ways.
