The Ancient Romans had a large empire and conquered many areas. However, places which they took over did not revolt against them. Why was this? (Page 267)
Conquered people never revolted against Rome because the Romans treated them nicely. They allowed these places to run their own government. All they had to do was pay taxes and provide soldiers for the Roman Army. This way, the conquered areas could continue to live as they did before and saw no reason to revolt.
