Warning an audience that something horrible will happen to them if they don't take certain actions

An exaggeration, or exaggerated statement to make a point

The historical event that Animal Farm is making fun of

What is Logos?
Negative names used for the 'enemy' or opposition, so that the audience has an emotional response to them and are immediately biased against them.
What is name-calling?
A word or phrase with a particular meaning, which needs to be known to be understood

The appeal that targets emotions
What is Pathos?
Linking positive, general, and commonly accepted words (love, family, democracy, etc.) with a person, group, or cause to make an audience approve without careful consideration.
Substituting words or phrases with softer, 'nicer' ones to create a more positive response or to mislead intentionally
What are euphemisms?
A story that often uses animals as characters, and tries to teach a lesson to its readers

“Surely, comrades, you do not want Jones back?”

The appeal that showcases credibility
What is Ethos?
Trying to convince an audience that someone is 'one of them'
What is camaraderie?
A literary work that ridicules its subject through the use of exaggeration, reversal, and/or humor to make a comment or criticism about it
What is satire?
Language that is often not neutral and instead carries a positive or negative connotation or association

What is persuasive language?
Claiming that an audience should do something because everyone else is doing it, playing on people's fear of being left out

The climactic event where the animals successfully defend their farm from an attack by the deposed farmer, Mr. Jones, and his men, who are attempting to retake the farm
