One of the most recognizable animals on the planet, it's black and white stripes are easy to spot. Living all across Africa, this animal is like a giant 1000 pound wild horse.

Plains Zebra

100

The fastest land animal, running up to 70 mph, this type of animal is very social compared to others in it's cat family. They also bark and chirp, rather than a meow. Zoos are also known to give them dogs as friends to help them calm down and be trained together.

Saharan Cheetah

100

This big cat is critically endangered because of poachers. They want to use it's black and orange fur as different types of coats and decorations, instead of letting the animals just live their lives alone.

Bengal Tiger

100

You might think this animal has thick white fur, but it actually has a fur that is yellowish in color. They grow up to 1200 pounds, eat everything from penguins, to fish, to snow rabbits.

Polar Bear

100

Another cephalopod, this one is known for it's 8 long legs full of suction cups. It will wrap them all around the food it wants and bring it up to the beak that hides beneath it's head. These specific ones can grow to be 700 pounds and 30 feet across.

Giant Octopus

200

Growing to be 500 pounds, this is the biggest of all the big cats. They can run 50 mph, and unlike many other animals, only the female hunts! The male are also the only ones that have their famous manes.

East African Lion

200

This insect's diet is mainly spiders, earthworms, and desert centipedes. It also has an incredibly painful, venomous sting that comes from the stinger on it's tail. However, the sting can't kill you.

Death Stalker Scorpion

200

I may want to hug an orangutan, but I would never want to get a hug from this dangerous great ape. The biggest, and strongest, of all great apes on the planet. This animal has the same strength as 3 fully grown adult men, and insanely sharp canine teeth used to eat whatever it finds.

Silverback Gorilla

200
One of the biggest growing types of this animal. It is flightless, eats fish that it finds in the ocean, and is known to slide on it's belly to get away from predators.

Emperor Penguin

200

Known to be so smart that we humans can train them to do tricks and do performances in aquariums and zoos. This animal is technically in the whale family, not the porpoise one.

Striped Dolphin

300

Like the tanks of the animal world, they can be up to 8 feet tall and 3000 pounds with skin that is 2-3 inches thick. This critically endangered species is threatened by hunters that want to take their iconic horn and illegally sell it.

The Black Rhinoceros

300

Like a mix between a big cat and a dog, this animal is scavenger that will eat leftovers from other bigger animals. They are also hunters that in packs can take down buffalo and gazelle. You might know this animal based on how its laugh from a very famous Disney movie.

Spotted Hyena

300

Colorful, and dangerous, this amphibian is one you would never want to touch. With enough poison in it's body to kill 10 humans, or 10,000 mice, this animal is all about defense. It's too tiny to attack, so it mainly eats smaller bugs using it's long and sticky tongue.

Poison Dart Frog

300

Looking like a mix between a house cat and a dog, these animals are known to use their amazing hearing to locate animals that are living under the surface of the snow. They will jump high into the air and divebomb the ground face first.

Arctic Fox

300

This animal eats jellyfish like candy, being totally unaffected by their stings. They also are known to take naps on the sea floor even though they need air to breath. They might be slow on land, they can swim around 25mph in the water.

Green Sea Turtle

400

This animal is the 2nd largest on the planet, weighing in at over 7000 pounds! They spend most of their time in lakes and rivers, can hold their breath for almost 8 minutes, and only search for food at night. They have a special jaw that allows them to open their mouth more than almost any other animal.

The Common Hippopotamus

400

Not as big or powerful as an eagle or a hawk, this type of killer bird is known to take down any kind of rodent or gerbil, and are even trailed by some people to track down and locate wild game like deer or geese.

Peregrine Falcon

400

A primate, but not a great ape, this animal is known for is booming loud voice. Many of their kind will all howl at the same time, almost creating a concert of noises for every animal to hear. They are also known to be one of the few primates that can grow beards!

Howler Monkey

400

Huge, heavy, and strong. These mammals use their big strong flippers and tails to attack prey in the water, and use their giant and strong tusks to eat the prey. Their tusks can also accidentally grow so big and long that they stab themselves!

North Atlantic Arctic Walrus

400

These things are massive! One was even seen being 120 feet long. They can have over 1500 different stinging tentacles to attack prey with. They also only get to live for a year. You better hope you don't get wrapped up in their stingers, because if you do you might not make it out alive.

Lion's Mane Jellyfish

500

Living mostly on the island of Madagascar, this mammal has a tail longer than it's entire body. They also live to be 15 years old, and are herbivores. They are gray and white, and are confused to be monkeys when they are actually prosimians.

Ring Tailed Lemur

500

This is the biggest, and heaviest, of all the birds on the planet. They are 9 feet tall, weigh 350 pounds, and they have a roar that is louder than a lions! They also fight by kicking and using their 2 inch talons to scratch.

North African Ostrich

500

Small compared to other like the cobra, this snake is still as dangerous and venomous as the rest. Their teeth only come out when they're ready to bite, and when they do the venom can kill a human if not treated. They are also nocturnal, so humans shouldn't ever have to worry about this snake.

Eyelash Viper

500

The unicorn of the ocean. This type of animal uses its long horn (that comes out of one of it's teeth!) to stab whatever they want to eat. The horn can grow to be 10 feet long.

Narwhal

500

Like many of the Australian animals we looked at last week, this animal is Australian and weird. Small, and without and predators, this sea animal floats along the sea floor sucking up food through it's long snout. The male of this animal will also give birth to the 250 babies that they will produce!
