What Should You Do?
I'm Sorry
100

You see someone being teased on the park. What is something you could do?

Tell a staff, speak to an adult, include them.

100

Calling someone a name, even though they are a friend is okay?

No, even if they are a friend we shouldn't be calling each other names. It may still hurt their feelings.

100

Why is it important to understand the perspective or feelings of others?

Knowing how someone feels can help us make better choices in the future.
100

Someone calls out an inappropriate comment in class. What do you do?

Ignore it, continue doing your work, ask them to stop, tell a staff.

No. An apology is when you are taking accountability and owning up to what YOU did.

200

Someone keeps making unwanted comments to you. How do you respond?

Walk away, speak to a staff, stay calm, don't respond.

Inappropriate. We should never comment on the way someone looks unless it's a compliment.

How can we show empathy to others?

Listening, supporting, including, putting yourself in their shoes.

200

You are getting spoken to about inappropriate comments but heard others saying it as well. What should you do?

Take responsibility, be honest, tell staff what was being said and who was involved

Yes. It shows you are taking accountability for what happened.

Get a staff to help, invite others to join to help, go over the rules before starting, leave the game when frustrated.

You keep interrupting someone while they are trying to talk.

Inappropriate. There is a correct time to talk to someone, sometimes you need to wait.

300

How can words hurt someone even if we are "just joking"?

They may still feel hurt, don't think it's a joke, embarrassed by it.

300

You have upset someone by making a rude comment, you want to apologize but they don't want to speak you right now. What should you do?

Be considerate of their space, give them time, know what you are going to say and how to do better in the future, allow them to come to you

300

Fix it: "I'm sorry I got upset but you started it"

I'm sorry...that what I said hurt your feelings, I shouldn't have said those things, it was unkind of me to say.

400

You made a comment towards someone that you know wasn't kind. How can you make it better?

Apologize right away, don't make the comment in the first place, keep your thoughts to yourself.
