When opening wrapped sterile trays, the first flap should be opened in this direction

This is the term for when moisture on a sterile surface soaks through the barrier and allows microorganisms to wick through and contaminate the sterile surface
What is strike-through?
You should select this level of barrier performance from a surgical gown when a high risk of exposure is anticipated.

When you should open sterile supplies, set up a sterile field, or drape out equipment to decrease the risk of contamination
