What is Big Data?
Knowledge created from structured relational databases.
What is knowledge extraction?
The specific organization and method of keeping track of data.
What is indexing?
When visiting a new site, this, can receive information from the site about which pages to visit and index.
What is web crawlers?
This identifies instances in which the appearance of one set of items (the antecedent) imply that another set of items (the consequent) will also appear.
What is an association rule?
Data that is capable of being used - i.e., data that has been processed so that it can be analyzed or used in its current form.
What is useable data?
Data that is identifiable because it is organized and requires less storage space.
What is structured data?
The measurement of usefulness - example: sharing personal digital data in order to receive something of value in return.

What is descriptive analytics?
The identification of unusual data records, that might be interesting or simply data errors and require further investigation.

Limiting a user's perspective by having an algorithm selectively determine what type of information a user would like to see based on past search history and behavior.

A memory location to store active data temporarily to shorten data access times and reduce latency.

What is Unstructured data?
The task of discovering groups and structures in the data that are in some way or another "similar," without using known structures in the data.
What is Clustering?
Everything collected in "raw" form, but connections and relationship among strands of data are both harder to trace and much slower to process.

Extracting information that is formatted for human use and converting it into a format for computer use.

The loss of quality between copies of data, usually analog formats (copies of copies) - unlike digital data where copies are identical as long as the format and size remain the same.
