- Also called a cumulative sentence, begins with amain clause that is followed by phrases and/or clauses that modify the main clause. “The fire alarm went off, making a loud clanging noise, startling everyone, and causing some people to knock over their chairs.”

a sentence which contains an independent clause and at least one dependent clause. “When the cost goes up, customers buy less clothing.”

a 19-line poem with 2 rhymes throughout consisting of 5 tercets and a quatrain with the 1st line and the 3rd line of the 1st tercet recurring alternately at the end of the other tercets

the repetition of the initial part of a clause or sentence at the end of that same clause or sentence
