One way they were similar was that they were both violent slave revolts; they also revealed to white supremacists that people of color could achieve just as much as white people, given the opportunity. One way they were different was that the Haitian Revolution was the first successful slave rebellion, whereas the plans of Gabriel’s Rebellion were exposed and halted.

Natives felt resentment towards Americans because of Western expansion onto their land and Madison’s administration's military action in the Ohio Valley which kicked them out. Tensions between the British and America grew because of their neutrality in Europeans treaty.
