It has two parts, the brain and the spinal cord
The Central Nervous System (CNS)
"little brain" controls the complex muscle movements
Cerebellum
processes visual information
Occipital Lobe
like phone lines that connect parts of your brain with other parts
Tracts
This controls many bodily activities through hormones
The Endocrine System
The network of nerves throughout the body
The Peripheral nervous system (PNS)
This connects the brain to the spinal cord
brainstem
front of the brain that controls speech, language, where your thoughts and ideas develop, where you process your emotions, skilled movements, and processes your sense of smell
Frontal Lobe
the gap between two nerve cells where they communicate
Synapse
chemical messengers that go through your bloodstream to tell your body what to do
Hormones
The central organ of the CNS
The Brain
the outer part of the cerebrum
cerebral cortex
responds to sensory information such as temperature, pressure, touch, and pain
Parietal Lobe
connect sensory and motor neurons and work with the info
Interneurons
Primary controller of your hormones
Pituitary gland
A bundle of nerves that extend from the brain sending signals to the rest of the body
The Spinal Cord
nerves that connect directly to the brain
helps recognize tones and loudness of sounds, helps store memories, it helps with the sense of smell
Temporal Lobe
neurons taking information from the brain back to your body
Motor Neurons
Produces a hormone that speeds up the rate at which almost all cells burn their fuel for energy
Thyroid Gland
The biggest part of the brain, big thinking happens here, controls your conscious actions
The Cerebrum
Most important cell in the nervous system
Neurons
fluid in between your brain and your skull that helps cushion the brain and keep it comfortably in place
Cerebrospinal Fluid
a reaction to danger that prepares to body to fight or flee
Fight or Flight Response
The systems of your body are working together to maintain a stable and healthy condition
Homeostasis
