Behavior Reduction
An event that occurs immediately before a target behavior
What is Antecedent?
This behavior occurs in order to get out of a task or to get away from a person or interaction.
What is escape maintained behavior?
Behavior reduction procedure of:
1. Extinction of one behavior
2. Reinforcement of another behavior
What is Differential Reinforcement?
Manipulating the environment to reduce the occurrence of inappropriate behaviors
What is environmental arrangement?
Single instance of behavior defined objectively and measurably
What is Behavior?
This behavior occurs in order to gain attention (either positive or negative) from adults or peers.
What is attention maintained behavior?
Withhold escape reinforcement when target behavior occurs (i.e., follow through)
What is escape extinction?
Extinction: inappropriate/target behavior
Reinforcement: replacement behavior
What is Differential Reinforcement of Alternative/Incompatible (DRA/DRI)?
Preparing a child for a pending transition through the use of vocal, written, or picture communication
What is priming?
An event that occurs immediately after a target behavior

Behavior with a "tangible" function

What is attention extinction?
Extinction: If inappropriate/target bx occurs across specified time interval
Reinforcement: If inappropriate/target bx does NOT occur across specified interval
What is Differential Reinforcement of Other Behavior (DRO)?
Presentation mastered, or high probability request, followed by the presentation of a target response or low probability
What is high probability (hi-p) low probability (low-p) instruction sequence?
Increases the likelihood behavior will occur again in the future
What is Reinforcement?
This behavior occurs just because it "feels good" and is likely to happen even when the person is alone.
What is sensory or automatically reinforcing behavior?
Withhold tangible reinforcement when target behavior occurs
What is tangible extinction?
Ext: Inappropriate/target bx occurs above limit across specified time interval
Sr+: Inappropriate/target bx occurs at or below limit across specified target time interval
What is Differential Reinforcement of Diminishing Rate (DRD)?
What is non-contingent reinforcement (NCR)?
Discontinuing reinforcement for a behavior that was previously reinforced

When implementing extinction, behavior will get worse before it gets better
What is Extinction Burst?
Ext: if inappropriate/target bx occurring at the end of specified time interval
Sr+: if inappropriate/target bx is NOT occurring at the end of specified time interval
What is Differential Reinforcement of Other Behavior (M-DRO)?
Intervention which teaches a child to communicate common reinforcers such as (sensory, escape, attention, access)
