This is something that is given after a behavior and makes that behavior more likely to occur again in the future
What is a reinforcer?
This function of behavior occurs in order to get out of a task or to get away from a person or interaction.
What is an escape function?
This is a prompt where the BT provides hand-over-hand guidance for the client to complete the skill
What is full physical prompting?
This is a way to identify possible reinforcers for your student
What is preference assessment?
This function of behavior occurs in order to gain attention (either positive or negative) from adults or peers.
What is an attention function?
This is a temporary increase in the intensity, frequency, or duration of a behavior, often occurring when that behavior is no longer reinforced
What is an extinction burst?
This is a prompt that involves a BT pointing/tapping at an item to encourage a correct response from the client
What is gesture prompting?
This function of behavior occurs in order to gain access to a desired item or activity
What is a tangible function?
This is when behavior increases because of the removal of an aversive stimulus (for example, you are more likely to clean your room because your mom stopped nagging you when you did it - or you are more likely to put on your seat belt in the car because it stops the car from beeping).
What is negative reinforcement?
This function of behavior occurs just because it "feels good" and is likely to happen even when the person is alone.
What is an automatic/sensory function?
This is a prompt that involves the BT performing the entire target skill first to show the client exactly what to do
What is a model prompt?
