lockers & Boxes
how it happens
100

what is the first contactor to close when shop power is applied to the Train?

SPDK 2 will close with shop power applied.

100

how many propulsion speed sensors total are on the married pair?

there are 8 propulsion speed sensors on the married pair, 1 speed sensor per traction motor.

100

what locker(s) are the 37VDC load contactor located in?

the load contactors are located in the PCLM of both the CAB and NON_CAB cars.

100

what contactor(s) close in the HVDB when shop power 600VDC is applied to the shop power receptacle?

the SPDK 2 is closed with shop power applied.

200

using the VMD where can the SPDK1 and SPDK2 status be observed?

using the maintenance screen under subsystem status and selecting the LVPS and/or PCU

200

the API, LVPS and propulsion systems on each car can operate independently of each other, of these systems which of them can fully support the other in the event of a failure?

either car's LVPS system and propulsion system can fully support another in the event of failure.

200

where is the emergency trainline relay located?

the relay is located in the propulsion case motormen side, behind the access panel to right of the PCU rack.

200

what could cause the battery circuit breakers to trip without short circuit found in the low voltage system?

the over-temp protection switch mounted to the battery series connector. the switch will shunt out the breakers and only the switch itself will reset.

300

With the train shop powered and then HVDB right door open what will happen to the API and why?

DRC2 is an interlock switch on the HVDB for the access door, with the switch open the API will shut down because SPDK1/2 will drop.

300

AW0 calculation is measured at what location(s) on the train?

AW0 through AW2 is a calculated weight used for braking and propulsion logic, the measurement for this is taken at the #1 air springs of both cars.

300

once the HSCB is closed 600VDC goes into the Propulsion box. what component(s) see that voltage next?

CHB1/CHB2 will be the next components to have voltage applied to them. if the filter cap is charged (rail gap) the LB1/LB2

300

PS1 is used to do what?

PS1 is a power supply unit in the propulsion case for INV1, it is used as a power supply for gate drive.

400

After completing the scheduled MILEAGE inspection the previous shift reported that the train will only key up with the BIG BUG applied, what should be checked?

the battery circuit breakers located in the enclosure next to the battery box. if found in the normal position, verify battery voltage is above minimum spec.

400

what trainline functions differ between the cars #1 and #2 ends

only the #2 end of the cars trainline 230vac, all other trainline functions are the same.

400

with 600VDC removed, what voltage reading are expected between 506 and 500G1 after waiting the recommended time for voltage dissipation?

the reading between 506 and 500G1 should read 0 VDC, because that is the line side of LB1, and with 600VDC removed the contactor should be open.

400

what is the sequence order in which component(s) must actuate for the propulsion system to drop all dynamic braking at 12MPH.

emergency trainline relay drops out. this will open LBs and HSCBs on all trains.

500

the propulsion system has multiple current transducers and voltage detector used for monitoring the status of the system what propulsion case connection point(s) allow this data to be sent to VMS

the CN5/CN6 connection port uses an M12 Ethernet cable to transmit data to the VMS

500

where are the changeover circuit breakers on the CAB car?

the #1 end of CAB car guard side, under the floor.

FXB3 in the undercar_cab car wire list.

500

where can BMCT2 be located on the NON_CAB car?

propulsion case, Guard side INV2 blower motor housing, next to the blower motor contactor.

500

what does the GCT provide to the PCU and why?

GCTs provide ground side feedback the PCU to verify differential current calculations and protect the system against leaking current.
