Who were the Federalists?
A debate between slave states and free states where Missouri wanted to join the US as a slave state but it would disrupt the balance. Settled by admitting Maine as a free state, and establishing the 3630 line.
What was the Missouri Compromise?
The first attempt at a US constitution, failing due to little to no central power, and the inability to collect taxes.
What were the Articles of Confederation?
A key federalist writer contributing to the ratification of the constitution, and was also the Secretary of the Treasury.
Who was Alexander Hamilton?

What was the Missouri Compromise?
A trade between Jefferson and Napoleon where France sold the Louisiana territory to the US, doubling the country's size.
What was the Louisiana Purchase?
The latitude line that officially separated the Northern "free" states, and the Southern "slave" states, established as part of the Missouri Compromise.

A political party opposing a strong central government and the Constitution. Lead by Thomas Jefferson.
What are Anti-Federalists?
A writer who was the principal author of the Constitution, author of the Federalist, and the 4 president of the United States.
Who was James Madison?
An uprising from small farmers/whiskey distillers when the US government put a tax on the whiskey that they made their entire living off of.
What was the Whiskey Rebellion?
A proclamation from President Monroe stating 2 major things, 1) the US would stay out of internal European conflicts, and 2) the US would protect young Latin American countries from European colonization.
What was the Monroe Doctrine?
A compromise relating to how much weight the enslaved people should have when it comes to state representation. Emerged due to Northern states fearing that the South would have too much influence.
What was the 3/5ths compromise?
Redesigned economic system consisting of infrastructure funding, tariffs, and a 2nd national bank.
What is the American System?
The 2nd President of the United States, also known for serving as a delegate in Europe during the American Revolution, and was a primary influencer of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
Who was John Adams?
Made policies towards foreign citizens much stricter, and allowed for strict punishments such as imprisonment and heavy fines for anyone defaming the government.
What were the Alien and Sedition Acts?
A supreme court case which established judicial review.
What is Marbury v. Madison?
From unit 4 because I'm out of terms: A revolt led by Nat Turner accompanied by other enslaved people, attacking slave owners and preaching abolition.
