No one created Him. He created all things besides Himself.

If Allah is all-powerful and all-merciful, then why do bad things happen?

Humans were given free will and this life is meant to test us. In order to truly be tested, humans must be given the ability to choose. If Allah stopped people before they could do anything evil, this life would not be a test.

When bad choices, or even evil ones are made, it is a test for those making the decision. They will be held accountable for that.

It is also a test for those who are harmed. How will they persevere and stay faithful to Allah?

And it is also a test for everyone else. Will they try their best to stop the injustice, or even just to speak out about it?

We will all be held accountable for our actions. And because of our free will, we have the potential to be even better than the angels. The only way this can be true, is if humans also have the choice to do evil.
