What do fish eat?

Different types of fish eat different types of food. Fish feed on microorganisms, smaller fish, worms, crustaceans, plankton, sponges, algae, aquatic plants, or commercial fish food.

100

How does a fish breathe?

A fish breathes by taking water into its mouth and forcing it through the gill passages. As water passes over the thin walls of the gills, dissolved oxygen moves into the blood and travels to the cells of the fish. What is A: Mercury & Venus. As far as we know, Saturn has the most moons. Saturn has at least 25 satellites that measure at least 6 miles (10 kilometers) in diameter, and several smaller satellites. The largest of Saturn's satellites, Titan, has a diameter of about 3,200 miles (5,150 kilometers) -- larger than the planets Mercury and Pluto.

100

What is aquaculture?

Aquaculture is the cultivation of aquatic organisms (such as fish or shellfish) especially for food

100

Plants capture my energy to make food - what am I?

I am light.

200

Are fish carnivores or herbivores?

The majority of fish are carnivores, but some fish are herbivores. Fish obtain nutrients from the environment in which they dwell. Their diet is mainly influenced by their surroundings.

200

Why can’t fish live out of water?

Fish can’t live out of water because they need water to breathe. Fish have gills, not lungs. Lungs take oxygen from the air. Gills take oxygen from water. If a fish leaves the water, it can no longer get oxygen.

200

What is fertilizer"

Fertilizer is any material of natural or synthetic origin that is applied to soils or plant tissues to supply one or more nutrients essential to plant growth.

200

I am used along with carbon dioxide and water to perform the process of photosynthesis - what am I?

I am sunlight.

300

What is aquarium fish food made from?

Aquarium fish food is made from plant and/or animal material. It contains the macro nutrients, trace elements, and vitamins necessary for maintaining the health of captive fish.

300

Do fish drink water?

Freshwater fish do not actively drink water. The water flows into them through their gills and skin. Saltwater fish actively drink water through their mouths. Their bodies process the water to filter out the salt.

300

What are nutrients?

Nutrients are a substance that provides nourishment essential for growth and the maintenance of life.

300

Farmers irrigate their field with me - what am I?

I am water.

400

Why do fish need shelter?

Fish need shelter for protection from predators. Some fish also eat, sleep, and spawn (deposit eggs) under the cover of shelters.

400

Do aquarium fish need shelter?

Yes. It is important for aquariums to replicate the natural environment. Shelters provide hiding places, security, and spawning sites (places to deposit eggs) for captive fish.

400

What is photosynthesis?

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants convert carbon dioxide, water, and light energy into sugars and oxygen in order to store energy; the opposite of cell respiration.

400

I cover most of the Earth’s surface - what am I?

I am water.

500

What types of shelters do fish use?

Fish can use aquatic plants, shoreline vegetation, rocks, coral, soft sediment, and logs to provide shelter

500

What are gills?

Gills are the paired respiratory organ found in many aquatic organisms that extracts dissolved oxygen from water and excretes carbon dioxide.

500

What is aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies nutrients for plants grown hydroponically, which in turn purify the water.

500

We come from the decomposition of rocks, dead plants, and animals - what am I?

We are nutrients.
