Originally, a university got its name for having a certain level of research done at it's campus. Today however, many colleges also do a lot of research and the terms are used pretty interchangeably.

12 hours. Each class you take in college will usually be 3 or 4 hours per semester. Although 12 hours is full-time, you will need to take at least 15 hours per semester to graduate within 4 years.

How does "GPA" stand for and what does this mean in terms of improving your GPA?
GPA is your Grade Point Average. This means it's an average of ALL of your classeswhile in highschool. Therefore, You cannot make C's one semester, make all A's the next semester, and expect your GPA to miraculously be at a 100.0 (4.0).
