What does Leather hard mean?
When the clay is stiff enough to handle but still wet enough to work with.
The pure color (that is found on the color wheel with nothing added).
What is zentangle art?

What is Pop Art?
Pop art means popular art so "pop culture" = everyday objects simplified in bright colors.
What does it mean when a paint is opaque?
Not transparent or translucent, and not allowing light to pass through!
It means something isn’t transparent. When the paint is opaque, you can cover any layer beneath it and the previous layers won’t show. This can come in handy when you buy acrylic paints.
What does the word slab mean?
A flat plate or slice of clay cut into shapes (which are then joined to form an object).

One definition is: the study of how colors interact and affect our emotions and perceptions.
What is a silhouette?
A drawing or cutout of an object's outline, usually filled in with a solid color, often black. Silhouettes can also be profile portraits.
What is Impressionism?
Capturing the visual impression of a scene and the light on objects.
Extra: loose, spontaneous brushstrokes, unblended colors, and emphasis on light.
What is a palette knife used for?
It's a tool used to mix paint on the palette. You can also paint with it.

The lightness or darkness of a color, shade, or the overall color palette of a piece of art
What does contour mean?
A line that defines the outline of an object.
What is Cubism art?
Art where they focused on multiple viewpoints put together with simple geometric shapes (think of cubes).
What is the purpose of a primer for painting?
(hint: think of makeup)
Also called a ground, a primer is a “preparing” or “ground” layer you put on before you start painting. For example, you can do this with gesso on a canvas or paper.
What does bisque mean?
When pottery is fired in a kiln without a ceramic glaze.
What are analogous colors?
“Analogous” means near so two or more colors that are side by side on the color wheel!

A form of art that doesn't give a realistic view, but instead uses (random) shapes, colors, and other elements to create its effect.

A stand or resting place for working on or displaying a painting.
What does glassware mean?
A ceramic piece that has had glaze applied and been through the second firing phase or process.

What is the difference between hatching and crosshatching?
Hatching is lines only going one direction, crosshatching is going multiple directions overtop each other.
What is Photorealism art?
A style of art that attempts to achieve the same level of detail and realism as a photograph.

Shade = add black
Tone = add grey
