True or False: Art used to be a competition category in the Olympics

True!

There were art competitions in the Olympics from 1912 to 1948. They included architecture, town planning, sculpting, reliefs, paintings, graphic art, watercolors, drawings, music composition, and even categories in literature. Winners were awarded in bronze, silver, and gold medals just like the athletic champions. The categories were discontinued in 1948 due to how difficult it was to determine an artists "amateur" status.
