On Monday morning, a new camper sits on the chairs during opening circle, refusing to join the group. What do you do?
1. Chat with camper, understand why they don't want to join. Do they dislike the game? Are they nervous to be here? Do they miss their parents? Find function of behaviour and respond with empathy.
2. Ask them to at least just sit in the circle. Sit with you? Choose a song they want?
3. If needed, leave them be. Don't reward them by giving them a desired activity while everybody else does opening circle.
