Educational Assessment
It involves teachers using evidence about students' knowledge, understanding and skills to inform their teaching.
What is assessment for learning?
Identify and set the essential knowledge and understanding that should be learned. It answers the question “What should the learner know?”
What is content standard?
Tests in which the answers are given in spoken words. Examples: oral recitations, oral defense of a thesis /dissertation
What is oral test / examination?
It occurs when students are their own assessors. Students monitor their own learning, ask questions and use a range of strategies to decide what they know and can do, and how to use assessment for new learning.
What is assessment as learning?
Describe the abilities and skills that learners are expected to demonstrate in relation to the content standards and integration of 21st century skills. It answers questions “What can learners do with what they know?” and “How do learners apply their learning or understanding in real-life contexts?”
What is performance standards?
Tests in which the answers are given in writing. Examples: essay and objective examinations
What is writtet rest/examination?
It assists teachers in using evidence of student learning to assess achievement against outcomes and standards
What is assessment of learning?
These refer to the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes that students need to demonstrate in every lesson and/or learning activity.
What is learning competencies?
Tests in which the response is given by means overt actions. Examples: proper marching, assembling a gun, planning in wood working
What is performance test/examination?
It is a standardized test given to students in a very consistent manner; meaning that the questions on the test are all the same, the time given to each student is the same, and the way in which the test is scored is the same for all students
What is standardized testing?
Refers to the ongoing forms of assessment that are closely linked to the learning process. It is characteristically informal and is intended to help students identify strengths and weaknesses in order to learn from the assessment experience.
What is formative assessment?
Designed to measure students’ ability to recall a large amount of factual information— verbal, associative knowledge. Two lines of items are presented and students to select an item from one list that closely relates to an item from the second list.
What is matching type?
It is any test used to make important decisions about students, educators, or schools, most commonly for the purpose of accountability.
What is high stakes testing?
It may be seen as “assessment of learning”, which occurs at the end of the particular unit. It measures whether learners have met the content and performance standards.
What is summative assessment?
Permits students to formulate answers to questions in their own words. Measure what students know because they utilize their own storehouse of knowledge to answer a question
What is Essay?
